It seems like just yesterday that I was reading all the information I could find on buying a truck scale. I remember the day our truck scale installation was complete. The foundation was solid, the scale installed and everything seemed finished. But, before the truck scale could be used for weighing, it had to be calibrated to the digital weight indicator and then tested and approved by the state. My scale company took care of all the testing and calibrating by bringing their test truck to the scale test site. Their truck holds certified test weights which are placed on the scale platform for checking and calibrating the item. The test weights are moved using a hoist mounted on the back of the test truck. During testing, the scale sections are adjusted. A section is comprised of a pair of load cells on opposite sides of the platform.
The state came out and checked the scale and it passed with flying colors. I was fortunate that I found web sites like this to help guide me through the process involved in buying a truck scale. I will be much better informed next time we purchase one.
